2014 Harvest For Hunger Cajun Boil  03/14/14 10:22:11 AM

On Monday, March, 10th the M&M Cooperative group held its first Cajun boil and mouse race in Yuma to benefit the Harvest for Hunger campaign.  Proceeds will go to the Food Bank of the Rockies to help fight hunger in our local communities.  We are humbled and excited about the support and generosity of the Yuma community and would like to say ‘thank you’ from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who attended, donated items, services or time and/or purchased items (and mice).

The event began with an auction of a lobster meal for two, followed by everyone enjoying a Cajun boil prepared by Jim Lengel, Grain Merchandiser, and crew!  After the Cajun Boil wrapped up, an auction for a private Cajun Boil for a party of 10, and a couple of cakes was held.  And then it was finally time to auction the mice.  15 mice were auctioned, given a name by their new owners, and then the races began!  We’ve never seen an agriculture community get so excited to watch mice run!

With your support and partnership to help fight hunger, this event raised $9,050 to benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies.  Continue checking our website and Facebook page to see the results of the Harvest for Hunger campaign locally, as well as, corporately!

Time to serve some Cajun!

Good food, good cause, great community!

After the Cajun Boil was over we began auctioning the mice!
Their new owners gave them a name and then the races began.

Who knew a farming community would get so excited about watching mice run?

Even the kids were at the edges of their seats watching the race!

Can you tell who the winner of the final round was?
Congratulations Forrest & Miles Rutledge!

Thanks again to the entire Yuma Community for helping us fight hunger together!
